Chronic Teach - Living Sick

Chronic illness changes everything.
It changes how we live, work, love, create, and simply get through the day. It reshapes relationships, routines, and even the smallest things, like brushing your teeth or answering a text message. It sneaks into the moments where joy should be easy and turns simple plans into logistical puzzles.
I’m a teacher (or was), a creator, and someone who has spent years trying to understand what is happening in my own body. I didn’t expect to get sick. I didn’t expect to stay sick. I didn’t expect the systems meant to help me to be so hard to navigate or to feel so invisible in the process.
I started this blog after seeing a TikTok where a woman encouraged anyone who could to share their story. She said, “You never know if you’re the one who will help someone feel seen, feel better, or finally feel understood.” That stuck with me because I know how much I’ve needed that from others. And I want to offer that here too.
Here, I’ll share what it’s been like to get sick, stay sick, and live in the in-between. I’ll talk about the things we don’t always say out loud. The daily adjustments, the emotional rollercoasters, and the awkward, frustrating, sometimes funny process of figuring out how to live in a body that doesn’t follow the rules anymore. I don’t have it all figured out—not even close—but this is where I’m sorting through it all, one spoon (and one blog post) at a time.
If you’re living with chronic illness, I hope you find some truth, comfort, or connection here. And if you’re a caregiver, a loved one, or someone trying to understand—thank you for being here too.
This space is for all of us: those living it, those witnessing it, and those just starting to ask questions. The more we share, the more we understand.
If something here resonates, I hope you’ll share your own story or even just your curiosity. We’re all learning, and shouldn't have to do it alone.
